Last week I was on holiday in Germany. My wife’s late father served as an officer in the British Army of the Rhine, and she was keen to return to some of the places she had visited as a teenager.

Whether it is a child walking safely to school, an older resident crossing a busy road, or someone cycling to work instead of sitting in traffic, investing in walking and cycling is about making everyday journeys easier, safer and healthier.
