The Liberal Democrats pledged to raise the stamp duty threshold to £150,000 to help first-time buyers. The tax on homes costing more than £60,000 has not changed for more than ten years, despite a huge increase in property prices. The new Liberal Democrat plans would stop 400,000 buyers paying stamp duty.

The Alternative Budget also includes the party's plans for higher pensions, extra police, smaller class sizes, a Maternity Income Guarantee, scrapping tuition fees, scrapping council tax and free personal care.
