Shepway "CPA" Review set for early 2008

The Audit Commission have agreed that the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) re-assessment of Shepway Council can go ahead early next year. Shepway were classified as a "Weak" Council in 2004.

Lib Dems pick out candidate for London Mayor

Brian Paddick - until recently the highest ranking openly gay police officer in Britain - was today named as the Liberal Democrat for London Mayor having won a ballot of the party's London members. He said, "I am enormously proud to be announced today as the Liberal Democrat candidate for London Mayor. For too long Londoners have been denied a serious debate on the future of their city.

Our Terry

It is with great sadness we have to report that Terry Woolley, a long-standing Delga executive member, passed away last week. Our thoughts and wishes go with his partner, family and friends. Terry was a valued member of the Delga team over many years and when news of his ill-health reached us at Brighton conference a card attracted countless messages of good wishes.

Serena and local campaigners launching the fight to save local post offices

THE FIGHT IS ON TO SAVE TOWNS' LOCAL POST OFFICES - LIB DEMS

Responding to the announcement of which local post offices could be closed, local Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman, Serena Tierney says: "While it is good news that the government is not proposing to close our village post offices we cannot afford to lose our local post offices in the towns. We have to step up our fight to keep these crucial local services."
