At the Southampton City Council meeting on the 6th October 2004 the minority Liberal Democrat administration plans to repeat the Eastleigh Borough Council very successful recycling scheme were defeated and the costly alternative will hit Southampton Council Tax payers hard, in fact to the tune of £750,000 per year.

Poll shows Howard not trusted in Shepway
A new poll of Shepway residents show that just 1 in 5 Shepway voters trust Michael Howard's Conservatives to keep their promises. Even amongst Conservative voters, fewer than half say they trust Mr Howard.

Delight at Gurkha Success
Lib Dem Campaigner Peter Carroll has reacted with delight to the news that retired Gurkha soldiers are to be allowed to apply for British citizenship.
