Jonathan Webber speaks out against 'budget airline' style of local government

Jonathan Webber, Liberal Democrat campaigner in Park Ward has spoken out against a trend towards a 'budget airline' style of local government. According to national newspaper reports, Conservative controlled councils across England are stripping away essential services to be replaced by "opt-in" care provided by private organisations. The result is that some residents end up being charged for services that would formerly have been delivered by their local council.

Nick Clegg Launches Plans to Rescue Lost Generation

With nearly a fifth of 18 to 24-year-olds currently unemployed, the Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg is keen to rescue what he calls 'Labour's Lost Generation'. Yesterday he launched his plans to help prevent the realisation of current estimates that more than 1.2 million young people will be unemployed by the end of 2011.

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY OF MISSING MILLIONS

Stockton tenants in Council owned homes have been losing out for 20 years it was revealed at a Council meeting last night. Councillor Suzanne Fletcher (Lib Dem) had put down a formal question to find out how long tenants had been paying money to the Government, and how much was being paid.

We were visited by Ros Scott today, a grass roots campaigner I've known for many years. Ros is from Suffolk where she was active in local issues such as her children's schools, she then became a local councillor and now she's a Baroness (sits in the House of Lords) and is President of the Liberal Democrats.
