The big event in Westminster this week has been the Chancellor's Pre Budget Speech. As usual much of it had been trailed beforehand in the media. It really is quite unacceptable that people who only still have a job because of taxpayer's support should behave in this way.

A call has been made for National Express to lose its East Anglia rail franchise immediately, not to wait for two years. The Government announced that the NXEA franchise (affecting services from Chelmsford to London and to Norfolk) would end three years early.
