The big event in Westminster this week has been the Chancellor's Pre Budget Speech. As usual much of it had been trailed beforehand in the media. Vince Cable, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, was one of the first to call the banker's bluff on their bonuses. It really is quite unacceptable that people who only still have a job because of taxpayer's support should behave in this way.

Our Young People Are Being Let Down By The System

No-one seems interested these days in looking after our young people. They are often criticised for the activities of the few and rarely given credit for the charity fund raising, the hard academic work or the good natured support they often give family and friends. On top of that they are frequently handed the short straw by their 'elders and betters' in power.

Passengers Face Two Years of Lame Duck National Express Rail Franchise

A call has been made for National Express to lose its East Anglia rail franchise immediately, not to wait for two years. The Government announced that the NXEA franchise (affecting services from Chelmsford to London and to Norfolk) would end three years early. Stephen Robinson, Liberal Democrats Parliamentary candidate for Chelmsford, said: "This is a curious decision in danger of satisfying nobody.
