Lib Dems petition as Ettingshall Park set to lose bus service

Travel West Midlands has decided to reroute bus service 223 back though the Beacon Hill Estate missing out Ettingshall Park. Springvale Liberal Democrats fought hard for to get the service to run through Ettingshall Park and only found out by chance that it was to be rerouted from November 26th. There has been no consultation with residents or elected councillors. Cllr Richard Whitehouse said, "This is diabolical, the service is far better used now than it ever was before so I do not think the alteration has been done for sound commercial reasons. Some people on Beacon Hill Estate got their Labour MP to make representations to Travel West Midlands."

Alzheimer's progress 100 years on

One hundred years since Alzheimer's disease was first described, scientists are still struggling to find a cure for it, a group of experts has said. There is much that can be done to dampen its effects, but the prospect of defeating the disease remains elusive, they say in the Lancet medical journal.

Safety cash for mental unit women

Mental health units in England are to get £30m to improve the safety of female patients and cut the numbers of sexual assaults, the government says. A report by the National Patient Safety Agency earlier this year said there had been 19 allegations of rape.

Today members of the Bowl liaison panel and local councillors were given a briefing on the Rose Bowl proposals for the final development of this important site in West End. The aim of the proposal is to both improve the facilities for visitors to Rose Bowl and to decrease the impact on the local community.
