Protect Yourself Against Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield, today called on local residents to protect themselves and their families from Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning by making a New Year's Resolution to play it safe with gas in 2007.

Government must not backtrack on equality

The government must not renege on its promise for equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual people, the Liberal Democrats have warned ahead of an important debate tomorrow in the House of Lords. The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) ensure that people in Northern Ireland will be protected against discriminatory practice based on someone's sexual orientation in their everyday lives, specifically with regards to the provision of goods and services.

Could West End Post Office close ?

There is a grand Government scheme to reduce rising losses and the problem of fewer people using the Post Office network. It's not about increasing the service available and it's not about freeing the Post Office from stupid Government red tape. No it's rather more basic all together. It's to shut about 2,500 more offices!!

Post Office campaign gains momentum

Hundreds of residents across South Lakeland have already signed the petition launched by MP Tim Farron in response to the Government's announcement that a further 2,500 rural post offices are to close. The local MP launched the petition just before Christmas, and sent petition forms to post offices across his Westmorland & Lonsdale constituency.
