Lib Dems hold balance of power in Wolverhampton
The 2008 elections in Wolverhampton saw the once dominant Labour Party ousted from power leaving the City Council with no over all control. Labour are still the largest group (28) to the Conservatives' 27 and Lib Dem's 5. Lib Dem Group Leader, Cllr Mike Heap has been besieged with phone calls from both Labour and Conservative councillors asking him to do a deal. He has given them all the same answer - NO. First, this weekend Mike will attend an ALDC (Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors) meeting with fellow group leaders in this same position and then Mike has called a meeting of Wolverhampton members for next week to hear their views.
