Hill farmers earning £4 below hourly minimum wage

Hill farmers are earning as little as £1.60 an hour according to figures uncovered by Shadow Defra Secretary Tim Farron MP, who believes that hill farming could die out within a decade unless the Government takes "urgent steps" to inject new lifeblood into the industry.

Is change nigh for the 'blood ban'?

Lib Dem LGBT group DELGA are pleased to highlight a demonstration tomorrow questioning the rules on blood donation in the UK. At present, men who have sex with men (whether gay and bisexual) are barred from giving blood, and straight or bisexual women are barred from donating for the twelve months following having sex with them. Many Lib Dem MPs have challenged this ruling and it is the policy of the Welsh Liberal Democrats to repeal the ban.
