Write to Gordon Brown to save PRH - Serena Tierney urges letter-writing campaign
Serena Tierney, Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Mid Sussex, is calling on local people to join her in a letter-writing campaign to Gordon Brown. She has written asking him to reverse the disastrous Whitehall policies that have artificially created deficits that threaten our A&E and maternity services at the PRH.

MP expresses delight as FoI bill fails to find a sponsor
Local MP Tim Farron has expressed his delight at the news that the bill to exempt MPs from Freedom of Information legislation has failed to find a sponsor in the House of Lords. Although it would still be technically possible to bring the bill back, it is now most unlikely to be passed.

Government has failed carers, says Gidley
Lib Dem Health Spokesperson Sandra Gidley supports motion for greater support for carers at start of carers' week. Speaking during an opposition day debate on carers, Sandra Gidley MP voiced Lib Dem support for a motion which proposes new legislation and measures to help out carers in the UK. Ms Gidley suggested at the start of the debate that society has not done enough to recognize carers' efforts.

Oven cleaner offers glaucoma hope
A substance found in oven cleaner could be used to treat the eye disease glaucoma, US research suggests. Cerium oxide nanoparticles, also commonly used in window cleaner, may help in more effectively delivering an active ingredient into the eye.
