Lord Ashcroft, the Conservative's biggest donor has admitted that he is a Tax Non Dom. Ashcroft who also makes our laws as a member of the house of lords, appears to have endless money for the Conservative Party, whilst being unwilling to pay tax in the UK to help fund our NHS, schools or armed forces.
At their meeting last Thursday, Guildford Borough Council's Executive decided to investigate alternative uses for Guildford House, and to approve spending £160,000 to refurbish 170 High Street for use as a Tourist Information Centre and Art Gallery. Following strong representations from members of the public who spoke at the meeting, the Executive ruled out the idea of selling the freehold of Guildford House. Liberal Democrat councillors who attended the meeting said that Guildford House was an important part of Guildford's heritage, and said it was vital that the historic building remains accessible to the public.
More polls show that voters are still unsure about David Cameron and the Tories. Even David Cameron is publicly saying that people in Britain have doubts about the Conservatives.Amid this growing concern Cameron has told party members that 'they still have to answer big questions about what the party stands for and whether it has the vision to run the country.'
Heather Kidd welcomed moves by the Liberal Democrats who will tomorrow vote in Parliament against the decision to freeze state pension top-up payments this April, which will leave almost nine million pensioners worse off. Last December Ministers set out plans to freeze payments of the State Earnings Related Pension and the Second State Pension, effectively cutting state pension payments by £515million next year.
