Post Office closures

Consulting on possible Post Office closures will commence in May 2008. It is expected that at least 2,500 post offices across the country will close. This means that some in Rochdale may be under threat. At this stage Post Office bosses are refusing to speculate where they plan to close.

MP Paul Rowen shocked at level of tinnitus

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen was shocked to find that an estimated 10,000 Rochdale residents suffer from tinnitus - the medical term for noises inside the ears or head. Mr Rowen experienced the problems firsthand when visiting the Royal National Institute for Deaf People's stand at the Lib Dem Conference in Brighton last week.

Braille is on the menu for pub

Helping a pub put its menu into braille is among the changes a new company has brought about to help improve facilities for disabled people. Richard Jones, who is a wheelchair user, has launched Accessible Wales to ensure places like cafes, shops and churches can be used by everyone.
