Lib Dem Action plan for improving UK armed forces' welfare

Vince Cable MP, Acting Lib Dem leader, has set out an action plan for improving UK armed forces' welfare. He said Labour and Conservative governments had failed to maintain the military "covenant" in which governments ensure the welfare of armed forces, especially in areas such as medical care and housing. The Lib Dems are calling a debate in the Commons on Wednesday in which they will seek a more formal and accountable form of the covenant, with annual reviews in Parliament.

Paul Rowen MP interrogated by police!

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen has spoken of his support for Rochdale's police officers. Mr Rowen was talking after it emerged that Home Secretary Jacqui Smith MP has decided not to honour an independent decision of the Police Arbitration Tribunal. This was to backdate the 2.5% pay rise for police officers. Mr Rowen has received dozens of complaints from serving officers in Rochdale.

Osteoporosis 'link to depression'

Depression may increase the risk of the bone disorder osteoporosis in pre-menopausal women, a study suggests. A US study found 17% of depressed women but just 2% of those not depressed, had thinner bone in a part of the hip.
