As reported in the Daily Mail, the Telegraph, and Chronicle News Group the Conservative led Essex County Council have racked up spending over over £5 million in just 2 years on credit cards. Spending was on a diverse array of items including underwear, make-up, pizza, theatre tickets, 5 star hotels and trips to a golf club.
Commenting on the reports of the re-introduction of O-Levels, Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Education, Dan Rogerson said:

A petition signed by nearly 200 residents opposing proposals to put a 15metre (49 foot) phone mast on Tudor Road, Hinckley has been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, a copy is also being sent to the Mobile Phone Companies' representatives.
A campaign to make the pavement outside a Hinckley shop safer has been a success.
On May 9th members of Wiltshire Council western area planning committee deferred the scheme for a cinema, supermarket, restaurants and pub on the Bowyers site in Trowbridge, asking planning officers to come up with details of the conditions and legal agreements which would be required if the scheme were to be approved. The application returned to the committee on June 20th with details of all the conditions (43 of them) and legal agreements, though still with a recommendation from the planners for refusal.
