Urgent re-assurances needed on Hospital Hygiene

Reacting to the publication of data submitted to the NHS Watchdog, showing that the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust is failing to meet three quarters of hygiene standards, Cornwall's MPs have called for reassurances that the Trust will be fully compliant next year.

Mental care bill back in Commons

The government will again try to push through powers to detain mentally ill people in England and Wales who have not committed crimes. The plans, to be debated in the Commons over the next two days, have faced opposition from mental health charities and opposition politicians.

Clark Road crossing

Cllr Lawrence and Claire Darke call for new Compton Road crossing

Local residents of have told Claire Darke about potential pedestrian dangers at the junction of Clark Road and Compton Road. This junction is used by many school children to cross to and from school despite there being no pedestrian crossing facilities of any kind. Claire Darke said "This road junction is extremely busy at peak times and is used by many children and parents crossing to and from the local schools. With the opening of the new St Jude's Primary School on Clark Road the junction has become even busier." In response to the concerns of local residents Councillor Robin Lawrence has already spoken to Council officers about the Clark Road and Compton Road junction and is awaiting their response. Cllr. Lawrence said "There is a zebra crossing further up Compton Road for the Grammar School and pedestrian controlled traffic lights for St. Peter's and St. Edmund's a similar distance the other way. But I believe that a pedestrian crossing facility as part of the existing traffic lights would improve pedest
