Thousands of schools are already experiencing a funding squeeze and are expecting to be unable to balance their books by the end of the year, research by the Liberal Democrats has revealed. At a time when public expenditure is under increased scrutiny it appears some schools are already struggling to cope.
Local MP Tim Farron is preparing for his 'long march' from the Rosemere cancer unit at the Royal Preston Hospital to Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal as part of his campaign which supports bringing cancer treatment services to the South Lakes.
Liberal Democrats are calling Bedford Pilgrims Housing Association to account over their failure to maintain garages in Brickhill. Local residents have complained that some of the garages are an extreme safety hazard with dangerous roof structures and burned out cars. Residents have also complained of the garages being used for rough sleeping and drug taking, with fires being lit in the abandoned garages next to their homes.
Under the Civil Partnership Act 2004, civil partnership ceremonies are forbidden from taking place in any building designed for or used solely for religious purposes. Lib Dem parliamentary spokesperson for Brighton Pavilion, Andrew Falconer, has launched a petition to amend the legislation.
