Plans to bring St. Peter's pond back to life

Councillor Nichols recently took a complaint from a local resident about the dumping of rubbish into pond at the rear of her property. Since then great strides have been taken to bring the pond, situated in St. Peter's College playing field, back to life.

3rd attempt to set up phone mast near Kings Road Primary opposed

O2 are trying for the third time to set up a phone mast outside the Kings Road primary school. Local Councillors Graham Pooley & Jude Deakin worked with residents last year to successfully fight the appeal against the planning refusal. Send Them a Message: Back Season Prater for Sandgate Valley

Sandgate resident Season Prater is calling on Sandgate residents to send a clear message to the Conservatives on Sandgate Council by supporting her in a Sandgate Valley by-election on May 1st. The council has been in the news recently for its highly controversial change from "Parish" to "Town" status and that Chairman Geoffrey Boot has moved from being Chairman to Mayor of Sandgate, with many local residents upset about the plans.

Clegg accuses Brown of hitting the poor with Tax changes

Gordon Brown's decision to abolish the 10p rate of income tax is "an outrageous political stunt at the cost of the poorest", Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has said. Speaking on BBC1's Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, Nick said the tax change was a "defining moment" which left the Labour Government with no right to talk about fairness in British society anymore. The Treasury select committee, which has a majority of Labour MPs, today attacked the changes too, highlighting that the combined effect of cutting of the basic rate of income tax from 22p to 20p in the pound, and the raising of the lower 10p band to 20p, would be that childless single people earning less than £18,500 would lose up to £232 a year.
