Campbell forces Blair on Trident replacement

At Question Time in the House of Commons Lib Dem Leader Sir Menzies Campbell asked for a promise from the Prime Minister that there would be a Commons vote on Trident replacement. Many Labour MPs believe Trident should not be replaced or, at the very least, that serious alternatives should be examined fully. They also want a vote on it and they are angry at suggestions that Mr Blair has already made his mind up and will be announcing the government's preferred option - presumably replacement - before any Commons debate.

Dundee LibDems slam Labour's failure on Pension Credits

Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Wednesday 22nd November) slammed the Labour Government's failure to properly administer Pension Credits. Statistics released today by the Department for Work and Pensions revealing a 2.6% rise in the level of fraud and error in pension credits.

Syphilis still spreading

Today's news from the Health Protection Agency that the number of syphilis infections is still increasing is a wake-up call to the government over the poor funding of sexual health services, says DELGA chair Jen Yockney. The number of infections nationwide has spiralled from 333 in 2000 to 2,807 in 2005.
