Worthing set to get Council Magazine at the expense of community groups.

Liberal Democrat Councillors last week discussed the Tory Cabinet's decision to publish a 2nd edition of the town's "Vibe" magazine and proposed that the budget is given to support the voluntary and community sector in the town.The Tory committee members voted against the £9,000 being given to the Worthing Shopmobility Scheme before Christmas, instead supporting the printing of "Vibe" Magazine,ironically to consult residents on the budget shortfalls!

Same-sex partnership in South Africa

Today the South African parliament passed the Civil Union bill by 230 votes to 41. This makes it the first country in Africa to legalise same-sex weddings, in a move which follows a ruling by their Constitutional Court last year that the existing laws discriminated against same-sex couples.

Welcome for new HIV resource

The National AIDS Trust has launched a practical resource for teachers providing ideas on integrating HIV into the national curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4. The pack is designed for use throughout the school year, but has been launched ahead of World AIDS Day, so that teachers can plan lessons and activities for this international day of awareness.
