A dangerously potholed access lane off Shaftesbury Avenue in Cheriton will be repaired by Shepway Council housing department in the next month. The housing department called Councillor Tim Prater with the good news on Monday, after correspondence with Councillor Prater and local residents, including a piece in the Folkestone Herald newspaper highlighting the issue.

The Liberal Democrats have launched the most extensive manifesto consultation ever undertaken by a British political party. Every party member can log on to a special website enabling them to contribute to the creation of the manifesto ahead of a possible snap election in the autumn. For the next election the party will produce a web-based interactive manifesto, using audio-visual communications as its centrepiece rather than the written word.

Indeed under the Liberal Democrats this Council is set to have its lowest Council Tax increase for over a decade. I was surprised at the Conservative Groups attempt to court publicity in this way. The Labour Party say they'd do the same - but why did they not do this last year when they had power?
Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have reacted with astonishment to the Council's plans to spend £1.2 million on a Ground Source Heat Pump at a private development in Bedford Town Centre rather than on energy efficiency improvements at council buildings or affordable rented housing.
