Lib Dems target failing children
Schools should be given cash incentives to take underperforming children, says Lib Dem shadow education secretary Sarah Teather. Ms Teather told the Lib Dem conference that children's school prospects depend too much on what their parents earn. She wants more funds targeted at children who underachieve, rather than just focusing money on deprived areas. The "pupil premium" could encourage good schools to take on challenging children rather than leaving them to go to "sink schools".

Soon after the Lib Dem Conference in Brighton had approved the new Green Switch Tax policy Park Ward Focus Team began delivering a special Focus about this policy. West Midlands Liberal Democrat MP moves successful Conference motion
Solihull MP and Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Small Business Lorely Burt has successfully moved a deregulation motion at Conference. The motion calls for the reforms that are needed so government departments actively pursue a deregulation agenda and allow small businesses to flourish in the UK.

Dundee LibDems welcome new tax package
Dundee East Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesperson Dr Clive Sneddon has today (Wednesday 20th September) welcomed yesterday's vote at the Liberal Democrat Federal Conference to adopt as party policy the most radical tax reform proposals from any political party.
