Lynne Beaumont has called on Members of Parliament to be sent to prison if found guilty of false accounting in their expense claims. The Public Prosecutions Director has said that three Labour MPs and one Tory peer are to face charges under the Theft Act over their expenses claims.
Liberal Democrat councillors have tabled a Motion to the next meeting of the whole council on 16th February demanding that councillors pay for their meals at civic functions.
"We do not have immunity from prosecution for Parliamentarians in this country," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Leader of the House.
