£8 million pound Youth Centre announced

Blackburn with Darwen Council has announce they will be building a state of the art Youth centre in the centre of Blackburn. The Liberal Democrats who together with their partners control the Council have been successful in getting government funding for the project. Liberal Democrat Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council, David Foster said, "This is fantastic news. Young people have been demanding better facilities and we have been listening. When this centre opens in 2010 it will be the biggest in East Lancashire."

Farndale drugs den - BBC follow up Lib Dem's lead

BBC reporters from both radio and TV are following up the Lib Dem action to have the former Farndale school site made secure and cleaned up. Following action by Cllr Robin Lawrence the City Council gave the owners 48 hours to act but nothing happened. So Robin Lawrence and Zahid Shah met reporters form BBC Radio WM and the BBC Midlands Today TV news programme at the ex school where even more drug needles than before were evident.

Tory-run County Council failing with elderly care

Recent changes to Hertfordshire County Council contracts have left some elderly residents with NO home care services. The Tory-run County Council have taken a hand's off approach to home care provision and were lucky that their lazy attitude to the elderly didn't result in any serious incidents. As a result of the vigorous scrutiny by Liberal Democrat Councillors, Care UK have been sacked from the contract.
