Alzheimer's vaccine 'in a patch'

A patch which delivers a vaccine against Alzheimer's disease through the skin has been shown to be safe and effective, a study has found. University of South Florida researchers reported the patch was able to clear brain-damaging plaques from mice. They say it may be a simpler way of protecting people against the disease than a conventional injected vaccine.

No New Post Box for Chignal Road area

Hundreds of residents in Chelmsford have been disappointed by Royal Mail failing to deliver a new Post Box. 150 residents of the Chignal Road area signed a petition to have an extra box placed on Chignal Road at the Kennet Way bus stop. But Royal Mail have said it would not be cost effective or viable to provide a box at this place.

Essex: Mobile library services cut by Tories

Despite overwhelming public objection, Conservatives at Essex County Council have voted to reduce mobile library services across the county; a recent public consultation showed that 80% of respondents wanted the service to continue as it is. Now, mobile libraries will only call once a fortnight instead of the weekly service currently offered and any stops less than two miles from a static library are under serious threat.

Local Euro MP is new MEP Leader

Chelmsford's Lib Dem MEP Andrew Duff has been elected Leader of the British Liberal Democrat Members of the European Parliament. Andrew takes over from Diana Wallis who has been elected as a Vice-President of the European Parliament.
