Children in the UK with type 1 diabetes are being recruited to test an artificial pancreas. The device could allow users to more tightly control their blood glucose levels without the need for repeated jabs to test blood and give insulin.

Saddam's martyrdom can only add to instability and unrest - Campbell

Commenting on the sentencing of Saddam Hussein to death for crimes against humanity, Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Menzies Campbell said "The conviction of Saddam Hussein will being relief to countless Iraqis whose lives have been blighted by the enormity of his behaviour. But it will not bring back the many thousands who perished while he ruled their country. His martyrdom can only add to the instability and unrest in Iraq. He should be detained for the rest of his natural life."

The Crime Capital of Shepway

Liberal Democrat campaigner Gary Fuller, who recently tackled a Shepway Council officer on the issue of visible policing, expressed his shock at discovering that, according to Kent Police's own figures, over 20% (1 in 5) of all crimes committed in Shepway occur in Harvey Central Ward, which has only one community police officer for over four-and-a-half-thousand people.
