Poll puts Labour at 19-year national low

Lib Dem support has surged by 3% while Labour's support among the public has slumped to its lowest level since the 1987 general election, according to a new poll. The Tories' position is the same as last month - meaning the real winners from Labour's slump are the Liberal Democrats.

Liberal Democrats advance in latest ICM Poll

Ahead of the local elections on May 4th, both Tony Blair and David Cameron will have cause for concern with the findings of ICM's monthly poll. The poll shows a three point increase for the Liberal Democrats. There is also a sharp fall for the Labour party with its support at its lowest since 1987, with the Conservatives dropping and failing to attract unhappy Labour supporters. The poll also reveals that David Cameron's environmental offensive has still left the Tories trailing the Lib Dems on the issue.

MP Tackles Chief Constable on Local Policy

Local MP, Matthew Taylor, has met the Chief Constable, Maria Wallis, to urge her to maintain local community policing. The meeting follows news that the introduction of several hundred Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) could mean fewer actual Police Officers acting as beat officers.
