At a meeting of the Strategic Scrutiny panel last week Shropshire Council Liberal Democrat Leader Cllr Nigel Hartin questioned some of the changes to the procurement of School meals which has led to some schools no longer being able to source meat, eggs & vegetables locally!

Labour push Councillor's allowances up again
Shortly City Councillors will get a rise in their allowances of 1%, backdated to May 09 in line with a decision forced through a full council meeting by the ruling Labour group on 27th November 2008.

Surrey County Council Rated "Adequate" by Audit Commission
The Audit Commission has today published a report rating Surrey County Council's performance as merely "adequate". The Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) rated the performance of the organisation with scores from 1 to 4 for managing performance, use of resources, managing finances, governing the business and managing resources. The County Council only achieved a score of 2 out of 4 which means that it meets only minimum requirements and only performs adequately.
