Cambell calls for Brown to face TV debate

A televised debate was held in the recent French presidential elections and this is an example to follow. Gordon Brown should take part in a series of head-to-head television debates with opposition leaders, Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell said that he wants a public showdown after the chancellor was elected Labour leader unopposed. The idea is backed by Conservative leader David Cameron, who says a TV debate would "bring politics to life".

Liberal Democrats help take control

Blackburn with Darwen Liberal Democrats have joined with Conservatives and For Darwen parties to form a Partnership to run Blackburn with Darwen Council. This ends over 20 years of Labour rule. The Partnership have 33 seats on the Council and Labour have 31.

Liberal Democrats in Bedford & Kempston have hit out at the government's failure to listen to the concerns of people in our area over post office closures. The Government announced on Thursday (17th May) that they will continue with their plan to close at least 2,500 post offices across the country.
